We all generate tons of digital data whether it be from taking pictures to excel spreadsheets to word documents to maybe creative types. The problem with that is any one of these can be deleted. You can delete files off of them easily and then run into the problem of not being able to get them back. So, it's nice that it's in there hard drive recovery photos recovery well for a creator such as myself this is very important. That's another big file type right there email and other you've got assorted other ones that you can restore there too. Preview is something that sets it apart and when I show you the software later you're going to understand why because most programs will give you the file name. If that this will actually give you a preview of what that file is. So, if you screwed up on the file name you'll at least be able to see what it looks like. Another benefit of Wondershare Recoverit the filter for specific file type. Again other software you get a laundry list with just names and you have to scroll through to find your actual file that you want. So if it's an excel file you got to scroll scroll scroll scroll until you find your excel file.

Wondershare can filter those files which is stupendous and you can also recover data during a scan. So, you don't have to wait till the end. So, if you found your file really quickly you can pause it and restore it perfect and as I stated before the free version gets you a hundred megabytes of data to restore. So, if you have files that are larger than that you're probably going to want to come over to the essential which is pretty much the free version but with an unlimited data cap. So you don't have to worry about if your file is a gig which most of my video files or photography files are you can see down here you have free 60 / 70. So, we're going to be talking about the essentials and the free version however you can tailor the essentials. So, right now this is for a year but we can come over and say taylor your plan. If you just need this for a quick one-off you can come over here and say I only need a month that'll be 46. However if you notice the year license is 60 because I'm rounding up the lifetime license is 70. So, for 10 more you can actually get this software for a full lifetime of use. I'm glad that they offer software updates so with all that being said let's take a look at the actual software itself. So, you get an idea of just one how quickly it can recover files. But what it also looks like when you're recovering from here we see the recover it software.

Now this is the essential version because I was provided a key for demonstration purposes but your free version is going to look very similar to this. I do like the way that this software lays out hard disks and displays. So, if we look at them os data local drive each of them indicating how much space is being used. It will bundle all of your external drives together. You can select recycle bin desktop or select a folder what I’m going to do is I’m going to take one of those flash drives that I had before and I’m going to plug it in. I'm doing this so that you can see that there are only two files present on this flash drive. This is a two gig flash drive. So, what we're going to do now is we're going to come down. You can see it has picked up the external drive and if we ever plug something else in and it doesn't pick it up right away. We can always click this refresh button. We're going to select our drive and then select start and what this is going to do you can see already 50 percent it has found 243 files and it is scanning sectors. Now you can see this is just data dumped in here which a lot of programs do the beauty of recovery is that it has file types but you also see that it is scanning fat 16 fat32 and raw file formats all on the same drive. We're going to come over to file types because again this is where recovery really differentiates itself from other software. You have videos, documents, web files, archives, miscellaneous and no extensions. If we selected the drop down for documents you can see it is finding word documents pdf files, excel files, text files, data csv and it breaks these all down. So if I select documents over here on the right while it's still searching it shows me all of the word style files that it found. You can change the sorting for date modified which you can see 1980 is a little weird. I think that's a problem with that particular file but that's not a fault of the software here we have one from 2011.

Up here you'll notice that there is a pause or a stop button. So, if we found the file that we wanted right away we can pause this. So, now we can select it and then select recover. If we wanted to but what we're going to do is we're going to quickly. Let this finish so that you have an idea of how quickly it can search through a two gigabyte flash drive and all the files that i had on here. We go look it's done gives us a little bb we're done here we found 193 files I’ve got it that's great. So, we can select again if we come back to our documents here we can see 10 documents pdf files. It's all great if we wanted to we can select one and restore it but what we're actually going to do is I’m going to add another external drive. So, we're going to do is we're going to select back and it's warning me. I do want to exit that because. Now I’ve added an SD card. This is my primary video recording card and photography card. So, here you can see the main drive which is just an SD card and then a lost partition but we're going to look at the main card because what we're going to do again we're going to come down.

Here we're going to select start and we're going to let this start doing its thing now. This is a 64 gigabyte card. So, I'm not actually going to let it finish searching through this but what we're going to do is we are going to come over to file types. Here we go it has found 304 files a thousand video files and then some documents that I’ve had on here what we're going to do is we're going to select drop down and we're going to look at the jpegs and here you can see even the jpegs because some of these are not well none of these are in raw format but all of our jpegs are falling over under that 100 megabyte limit. So, if I select an image here you can see a preview of that image. If we want a larger preview we just select preview again and what it's going to do here we go it's generating a larger image. So, we can determine if we want to actually restore this. Because again this might be itty bitty and hard to figure out what it is. So hypothetically different image can't really see what that is. So, if we preview it we can make it larger and we can see that. In this case it was actually an image that I took of a warning sign when I was going out hiking but you can also see it's previewing other images down here as well. But what we're going to do is we're going to close the bigger image and we're going to say pause. Because I found the image that I want to restore. I put a check mark next to it. I come over to the recover button in the lower right. I select that and now I tell it where I want this to go. In my case I’m going to say os, I'm going to say user, I'm going to say computer name and then I’m going to select desktop and then select recover and because I didn't select a new folder or to create a new folder.

It actually you can see over there on the right. It made its own folder and if we come over to photos jpeg here's that folder with that file and oh there we go it has restored that image. So I can use it again if I wanted to it is that simple to do and if I wanted to look for more I can always select continue searching. If I want to look at my thousand plus video files these you can see some of these will go over that 100 megabyte limit. Because well these are video files but you'll notice that it gives you the file name the file size path and the modification date. This is all useful information when you're trying to figure out what this file is. Because especially with my video files I have no idea what I was filming around this time now what I was showing you and we're just going to stop this. Yes we're going to stop and it pulls together what it has.

At that point and back yes we're going to go back what i have been telling you is the essential the free software that you can get. Will have everything above that. So, everything I was telling you will operate with the free as well instead of seeing this account. You'll actually have it activate where you can create an account and then plug in your user information and like the key. So again super simple user interface pretty much three clicks and you can restore a file that you lost as you saw there the user interface is really easy and we all need some sort of data recovery software for those.
