The first thing you need to do when creating your marketing plan is to decide who you are talking to. Who is your target audience that your product or service will help the most. And you really want to get to know this person very well. You got to know secondly, what problems are they facing? What are their goals? And you’ve got to know where they’re hanging out online. And then finally bridge the gap between the problems that they are facing and the transformation your program or your service actually provides for them. For example, my Digital Marketing Strategies Course. It helps entrepreneurs like yourself create a profitable marketing plan. And not only do I take your through each and every step to create that plan. I provide my clients countless ways to grow their business, both with short term tactics and long term tactics. I help my clients create a marketing plan with organic strategies and low cost marketing plans that will help them grow their business. Seeing short term and long term results. I’ll have the link for that in the description as well. Finally, you need to decide what kind of content you like to create. Some people are more comfortable making videos. And that is great. So you can create videos for Youtube, Facebook Live, Instagram. Or maybe you’re more comfortable with writing, and that’s great too. You could create a blog or text based articles. If you like to talk and you don’t like videos. If you don’t like talking, you can do a combination of other things. There’s podcasting, public speaking.
There’s so many. But you need to decide on a couple of tactics that you’re going to use that are both long term and short term tactics that you can use to see results both now and in the future. Finally when you are making your social media content strategy, you’re going to want to list out four pillars of topics that you would like to discuss. What are topics that you can speak on that you are an expert in that also relate to what you are selling as well. And in my business, I focus on one content pillar per week. So when I’m making my marketing plan, decide for the week what your content strategy is for that week. Your content pillar is. And then you can break that down into smaller daily contents as well. It really helps you to get this laid out and super simple. Next you want to put all that information together and decide which platforms your target audience is hanging out. And when we are talking about social media, you’re taking about the big ones. Facebook, Instagram, Youtube Tiktok. There’s so many of them. But decide, A) where your audience is hanging out. B) What you prefer. And I would like to know, let me know in the comments which social media platforms do you spend the most time on? Personally, I love Facebook and Instagram. And there are billions of people on there. So where do you hangout?
Finally take a minute to see what other competitors in your industry are doing. What sort of content is resonating with them? And if you are looking at a major influencer in your industry, you could also find it helpful to look inside of the comment section of their content and you can find out a lot of really good information that way. Are there certain questions that people are asking that maybe you can get an idea for a content piece from. Also decide what hashtags are they using. What sort of campaigns? Take inspiration from those people. I put together a free marketing planning template to help you get started creating your profitable social media marketing plan. I recommend revisiting this every month if you like this article.
